Crescendo Contestant LiaisonThe Collegiate Finals Concert is a formal Black Tie event for all candidates. Proper formal concert attire is required.
First place winners in high school are not eligible to compete in subsequent years within the same division. For example, the First Place winner in one of the high school divisions (Orchestral Instruments, Piano, or Vocal) may not compete in the same division in subsequent years. However, he or she may compete in another of the high school divisions if desired - as long as all other eligibility requirements are met. High school winners become eligible to compete in the collegiate division of their choice upon graduation from high school and entrance into college. A candidate must be enrolled in school in order to compete.
Gold Medal winners at the collegiate level may not compete in subsequent years in the same division, but may compete in another division as long as all other eligibility requirements are met.I understandPlease read carefully. Failure to comply may result in disqualification!
Each contestant must provide a list of three selections they will be prepared to perform.
Each contestant must bring to the audition three copies of each piece to be performed for the judges. All music will be returned immediately following the audition.
A maximum of 10 minutes will be allowed for each contestant to perform for the judges in each round, including the Final Concert round.
The actual amount of time a candidate performs will be at the judges' discretion, and will not guarantee, enhance or jeopardize the evaluation.
Applicants should choose from the submitted list what they consider to be their best work as the first selection to perform for the judges. This selection should be of sufficient skill level to carry them through to the final round.
Judges may choose to hear additional works from the list. Judges may also choose not to hear each work or not to hear any work to completion.
Piano applicants: Please note that piano concerti selections requiring piano/instrumental accompaniment are not allowed for this competition.You must submit with your online application, one repertoire selection from each of the music periods listed below:

High School Candidates will compete only with others at the high school level. Collegiate candidates will compete only with others at the collegiate level. Prizes will be awarded at both the high school and collegiate levels.All candidates will be evaluated in the following general categories. Evaluations in particular disciplines will be specific to those disciplines.

Proper business dress is required for the prelims and semi final rounds. Casual attire such as jeans, shorts, flip-flops and the like will not be acceptable.Please bring to your audition three copies of the pieces you will be performing for the judges. They will be returned to you following your audition.
Following the close of the application period you will be assigned a check-in and warm-up time with your accompanist.If you request a Crescendo Music Awards staff accompanist, one will be assigned to you. It will then be your responsibility to communicate with your assigned accompanist if you wish to arrange any additional time with them other than what is provided for you the day of your audition. Your contact information will be given to the accompanist and he or she will be in touch with you to discuss the pieces you will be performing.
If you are providing your own accompanist you must submit his or her name and contact information with your application.A limited number of applications will be accepted for the competition.
We strongly advise you to submit your application early in the process to avoid the possibility of a division closing due to the number of candidates applying.
